You could get a roof mount safari rack basket and mount in in on the rack, alot of off-road guys i know do this.

You could get a roof rack like i have on mine. If you want to see how it looks with a tire and a high lift jack mounted go to my website. www.locooffroad.150m.com
The rack is the best place for an oversize spare i think.

There are also the mounts to put it on the rear, like older Blazers have. I believe those are a bit more expensive and I'd say that the basket is the way to go.

But why don't you want to put it back underneathe? Seems like the easiest way to go to me. Cheapest too.

is there anything else i could do becasue i dont want to buy a rack

If you don't want to put it on the roof, don't want it underneath, and don't want it in the back....then you could go without it or.....get something like this

I just remembered that when i bought mine it had the tire mounted standing up behind the rear seats. You could do that if you want.

Throw it down flat in the back and then toss a piece of wood over it....it's almost like having two levels for the rear storage. Then when you need the tire just slide it out from under the wood. I think Dre mentioned that he is doing that.

I still don't understand why you don't want it under? A slightly worn 31 will fit fine.
You could get a hitch carrier if you have a hitch. Other wise I think the tire flat in back with the plywood would be best. The only other option is in front of the grill, on the hood..

Dannyboy told me that he fit a underinflated 32x11.50 under his X...

That's what I have done. Underinflated 32x11.50 in the spare tire "hole" .

ebinterceptor where can i get one of those bumpers with the tire on the back and how much?

I yanked that picture from Rick. You may want to PM him.

I'm not sure how much room the 1 gen's have under. Without a hitch you could fit a 32.

Other wise I think you would have to go with a bumper mounted swing away.

hope this helps. I know Cory made some, also Kennesaw Mountain although they were somewhat hit & miss.

why would you want an underinflated spare? Am I the only person who thinks thats about as dumb as a sack of hammers?

Underinflated works if you have a supply of air.

ie... Power Tank, Onboard Air, Air Compressor

I'd rather have one with low pressure than one with no pressure at all.

You just need something to get you off the trail, or just to a gas station. I agree that a low tire is better than none at all.
