Spark plug gap

What happens if I run my gap too wide or too narrow on a standard or signal electrode platinum?

if the sticker calls for .052-.056 whats the difference if i set them at .052 or if i set them at .056? my plugs look almost new but there set at .057
 






You will have less trouble running them narrow

than wide. Plugs often fail on hard acceleration because this condition requires more voltage to jump the gap. Often with old dirty wires the spark will find somewhere else to jump. Remember with the DIS system that you have two plugs in series. Wider gap probably improve idle. Some here have said they set them on purpose to .045
 






ok i noticed alec recomended .048 but i didnt know if that was cause his is supercharged. im gonna pull mine out and reduce the gap. to about .050 i guess. thanks
