I just changed the plugs in my 99 Mounty 5L and I didn't use anti-seize thread compound, I never used the stuff in any of my vehicles and never had a problem but the manual says I should have done so.....

Should I pull them out and coat the threads? Or don't worry bout' it? The heads are cast iron so it shouldn't be any different than any other vehicle I have owned???

Is it more for aluminum heads and the disimiliar metals?

i've only heard of it being used on aluminum heads. I've never used it on cast iron because its not needed. Just when you have two different metals.

Anti seize is a good idea if you don't change your plugs often or if the engine gets wet or in a marine enviroment(rust). But you will be ok without it.

With today's "100K mile tuneups", it's a good idea to use anti-seize. I wouldn't remove the plugs again just to coat them, however. I'd use it on the next plug change.

It's very good on exhaust system bolts, too.

I am going to leave them in, but I will change them in about 50K. The truck has 64K on it and the original plugs were pretty well worn. There didn't appear to be any anti-seize on the threads from the factory and they came out really easy.
