How much torque is needed to properly seat the plugs? Is it just hand tighten then another 1/4 turn. Ive got motorcraft so theres no crush washer. Ive seen write ups on installation but none mention torque.

It's tough to get a torque wrench in there for some of the plugs, so usually just "snug" with a 3/8" ratchet does the trick.

You can usually just go by feel if you've done spark plugs, the washer or plug seat will make contact, then you just tighten them a bit more (doesn't have to be 1/4 turn) to keep them on there, and you're good. This is of course assuming you've cleaned the threads in the head and theres no rust or scale or any old antiseize in there to mess things up.

My F-150 is 84 - 168 in-Lbs. So I tighten them on my X to 10 ft-Lbs, all 5 that I can get the torque wrench on.

Careful to not break the porcelain. Should probably use a sparkplug socket. Just snug em up with a 3/8th socket.

Thanks guys this makes me feel better knowing they are in well. Now I move to the plug wires. Can someone tell me how the plug wires are arranged on the coil? Where can i find a diagram? The front sp is the connection on the coil nearest the firewall driver side, the middle sp is the connection nearest the front of the x and the rear sp is the connection in the middle of the coil.( Does that make sense?) is this correct?

Thanks guy done with my first plug and wire swap. Took the truck out and seemed to breath a little new life into her...a little. thanks for the help.
