Hey guys..,
I just called local Ford dealer and asking how much to put on plugs and wires (aftermarket) and they gave $145.00 Is it worth it? Should I just go to PepBoys and have it done overthere? I figured they should now how to right? I mean I know ours is a little bit complicated (wheel well, etc). I wish I could do it myself but brrrrr, is too cold outside. ;) Let me know guys..!

thats a really cheap quote from the dealer- i know 3 or 4 years ago i let them do my plugs and they quoted me a ton more than that (but it was in for some warranty stuff so i let them do it)

for that kind of scratch I'll fly down there and do it!

No seriously that is alot of $$$$$.

What kind of plugs and what kind of wires?

You may have them install the plugs, but the wires you can do yourself and save some $$$$..

I like NGK plugs or Motocraft platinums.
I run the Bosch +4's in my 4.0L, but the others are good too.

Taylor makes a great custom fit high performance plug wires for your truck, for about $40 shipped to your door.

I bought Bosch +2 and bought Taylor wires from fellow member, Jim aka Stomper. So actually I suppose to pay the labor. Is that a good deal for $145.00?

$145 for labor?

thats 2 hours worth at a dealer, or 1 hour plus the basic shop charge.

I could change all 6 of your plugs and wires in about 30 minutes.
Going through the wheel well is the key for the pass side, it helps if you jack up the truck a little and have the right tools.

$145 is a good deal for the plugs, wires, and labor, but not just for labor, its about double what the job is worth

I beleive pep boys is somewhere around 65$ if you buy them there and 85$ if you don't. All i know is the dealer will probibly be the most explensive

:D you have a link to lingerie models in your signature:D

good work man!

I called another Ford dealer. They gave me $250 and when I said I got the plugs and the wires, they said the won't do it because is not Ford parts. You guys know why? Something I should now? Or that's just their marketing trick?

I don't know if it's a marketing trick, but even if you did supply ford parts, it would still be way to much. The price pep boys gave ain't to bad, but I wouldn't trust them with a broke ratchet!. They messed up my maxima just changing tires! I know it's cold, but you look better just changing them yourself, or waiting until spring if you can. The weather is supposed to be better in the tri-states in the next few days....
;)

Its because they dont make any money installing other peoples parts.

You will find many shops dont want to install customer parts, most of the $$$ made in shops come from the mark up on the parts.
