stick with Motorcraft or Autolite plugs gaped to .054 as mentioned. Platinum, Double Platinum or Iridium (good/better/best). other brands have been known to cause problems in these engines, especially Bosch brand.
You are fine, the wires have resistance incorporated.
I would recommend a fine wire spark plug, best ones in my opinion are NGK Laser Iridium because they have platinum disk on the ground electrode.
tagging on here since the gap is stated to be at .054 but the original Autolite AP103 plugs come at .040...saw a couple of strings on increasing to .054 and getting mixed signals
