Hey all,

I have a simple question and I hope it was not asked before. I would like to move the rear speakers that are mounted in the rear doors to the tailgate has anyone done this and if so how does it sound? Any opinions on what they might sound like?

Thanks for your help,
Alan

Its possible but it would cost alot of money because you would have to have a custom back pannel made for you. Then you would have to run wires back there. That would be easy but is it really worth the money? I think some jeeps have speakers in the tail gate but i could be wrong. But that would cost a lot of money to do that so i wouldn't do it. But i donno maybe your rich or something.

Find A Cherokee and listen to it stereo its is set up that way. You could modify the stock tailgate peice but it would be permentent. I don't beleive it would be too hard to do with common knowledge. You would however probably want to upgrade the speakers from stock and might as well get a after market CD player. One way of hooking it up witch I would think would be cool is to buy a compnent set and some 6.5 inch mid bass or 8 inch subs (ha 8 inch sub what a oxymoron) and a amp (like 50x4) and CD player, remove all stock equipment and place the compnents in the front doors and the 8's in the rear tailgate. And the amp in the stock woofer location. OR (this is what I would do) put the amp in the tailgate also but cut out a hole in the between the 2 speaker and place the amp there and cover it with a 2 way mirror and back light it with neon or somthing. So when the light is off you have a mirror but when it is one you have a amp display. Now this would take a great deal of modification. But hey wouldn't be worth it :) anyways thats my thought do what YOU WANT.

I think it's a good idea, that would help to fill all that space with some sound, however, be careful. I know I tend to slam my tailgate pretty hard when I shut it, which is not good for speakers. I'm pretty good about not slamming the doors since that's were my speakers are (factory mounts).

I could see doing that if you were going to keep your door speakers and wanted more sound. But if you want more sound i would go for a sub. But i wouldn't think twice about slamming your tailgate because if you install right it shouldn't matter. I mean you have probably slammed your doors millions of times and have thoughs speakers broke?
