Ok, bought my 97 and it has a Pioneer head unit already in it. Front right door speakers blown, and left speaker cuts on and off. Bought some Sony Xplods, and that fixed the right speaker issue. Now the left still cuts on and off. Hooked it up directly to the deck and it comes on, but not very loud. My buddy guesses theres an amp somewhere since it is much louder hooked up in the door. My question is where is the amp? And, is the amp bad or could the deck have a channel out in it? The decks less than a year and a half old.

OK i found it and gotta say- thing was kind of a b*tch getting at. IDK they put they connector at the bottom, but that is what made it hard. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and so far so good

its not to bad to get off Now after doing it quite a few times (Ha). but yea i had a connection problem once in the past and it was the amp harness. after tracking the problem down i cleaned it real good and reconnected it which solved my problem. i have also read post's on here about other members having to clean that harness due to connection problems.

I'm having a similar problem, but my X doesn't have a sub. Do I still have an amp? I'd hate to spend time and effort pulling off the interior panel just to find a lot of nothing where the amp isn't.

yes, you should have one as well. if your factory radio was either a tape or cd player then it came w/a amp IIRC.
