Speaker size?? Pyle Speakers??

Hello -

I have a 96XLT with the radio that has the separate amp, but I do not have the sub / CD player. I want to repalce the entire sound system, but am starting with the speakers (in the doors) - I know I will not be adding subs and or anything higher than 50W per channel.

On to the questions:
1. I see on the site that the factory speakers are 5x7 or something close to that - Cruthcfield says 6x8s will fit without modifiction - is this true?

2. Is Pyle a resonable name? I cannot find them locally - I found some on the web in either 6x8 or 5x7 and they are affordable, but I do not want to buy really crappy speakers.

3. Who makes a decent sounding, affordable MP3 player - again I like the Aiwa they have at cruthfield, but know nothing about Aiwa

Every experience I've ever had with an Aiwa has been a good one. They're fairly inexpensive and decent quality. You might want to get rid of you're factory amp and get a new one though, especially if you want to redo your entire system.

6X8s fit perfectly.
stay away from Pyle. the factory speakers are actually better then them
wal-mart has pioneer 6X8's for about $35.

the Aiwa mp3 player is pretty good. i think Alec has one and he says it's great.

Pioneer also make a 6x8 that is better than the one yu can pick up at wally world. Best Buy has them for like $65. THats what i have in the back of my Exploder.

is wally world the same as wal*mart? or do different parts of the country call them something different? out here in CA we have wal*mart but i have never seen a wally world

yeah, the $35 pioneers at wal mart are 2 way 6X8's. 3 ways are a little more expensive.
