Can any real world sound quality improvements be made when using aftermarket speakers with the factory HU?

If so, what speakers do you guys recommend?

Thanks....

Replacing the factory speakers will most definately improve sound quality. As for which speakers to get, that is all a matter of taste. Whatever you like the sound of and fits your budget you should go for. Just about any aftermarket speaker you buy will sound better than the factory ones. Alot of people, including myself use the Pionner 6x8 speakers. Other popular brands include Infinity and Rockford Fosgate. It's all a matter of preference when it comes to speakers; and car audio in general for that matter.

eclipse 5x7

I replaced everything in my explorer that had to do with audio. to replace the factory speakers i bought 4 eclipse 5x7's. that sound quality is one of the best i ahve heard from a single speaker. These speakers put out alot of bass and are very clear.

If you're going to use the Factory Head Unit, you need to use highly effecient speakers. High effeciency means that they take low-levels of power to sufficiently play music through the speaker. For a low-cost, high effeciency, good quality combo, go with the new Blaupunkts

I just ordered Infinity Kappa 5x7s for the back doors and wire harnesses from Crutchfield. I'll let you know how they sound after I get them in. I use an aftermarket HU (Pioneer FH-P404 DD).
