1st Problem: I have done some searching but I'm having trouble finding answers to specific questions. I have the door panel off and I removed two bolts that appeared to secure it to the regulator but it won't budge. Are there rivets I have to drill out? How difficult is it to replace just the motor? How much time do you figure it will take?

2nd Problem: I'm also having trouble figuring out how to disengage the door lock rod coming out of the actuator. The old actuator was bad so I broke it taking it out and all I have left in the door is the rod and I can't seem to get it free. Is there a trick to removing it and installing it?

Thanks,
Dave

yes you have to drill out the rivits. Use a center punch to drive out the pin in the rivit.
It is better to replace the motor and regulator as an assembly. Just easier.

I can knock one out in half an hour, but I do this for a living.
Give your self an hour and a half. Maybe two.

Getting the rivits out of the glass is the nightmare part. The glass is MUCH tougher than you think, but not indestructable.
DO THE RIVITS IN THE GLASS BEFORE THE RIVITS IN THE REGULATOR.
Go ahead and bolt the guide back up too.

Good luck, this task it a 5.6 on the difficult scale.

I have to remove the glass even if I'm just replacing the motor? The rivets definately do not look like an off the shelf item. Is their a way to do this yourself or do I have to have a Ford dealer or body shop put it back together? And if so what's a reasonable price? Thanks.

the window regulator rivits to the window its self. The glass doesnt have to come OUT but you do need to separate it from the regualtor. I usually just tape it in the full up position with some masking tape.

Yeah they are a special rivit. Most body shops will have them you will NEED five but get seven just in case. Some auto parts stores might have them or maybe a body shop supply house. We get ours from a company called Au-Ve-Co.

You will also need a " big Daddy Rivit gun "
Yeah that is the name.

You CAN do it your self. It just takes some nerve and the right tools.
