Specific sct X3 tunes - what have you got?

Well made it home safe n sound. As far as economy went 250 miles on 12 1/2 gallons, probably the best I've ever had considering the last half of the trip was all up and down with the x spending alot of time @ 3000rpm. Overtaking was awesome and the extra grunt became noticable big time getting past the b doubles hauling logs. Some of those roads are just wide enough for two cars so being able to get past this truck in a few seconds was great. His back trailer was swinging in the wind and I half expected to be side swiped but apart from a little wind buffeting us and a poofteenth between my tyres and the gravel shoulder, made it through no worries right before trucks use low gear descent that lasted for a couple of miles. yay.

Only saw 2 emu on the trip and one dead roo who was pretty ripe so I'd say he had been there for a few days considering its been pretty cool around here lately. All in all great with the tune, very happy with all the bonus's and thats with out playing around with the options or datalogging through sct (thanks for that Morziak).

93 Tow Tune = <3

by far my favorite tune, and im actually noticing the best mpg improvement for my driving ( inner city )...

just really need the TB spcer mod done to completely eliminate the throttle lag...

By getting a tune from James do you notice in a difference in how the tranny shifts I thought I read somewhere on here that it was worth it just alone for the way it shifts or something.

It firmed up the shifts nicely and held longer through the gears when punching it and more torque available at lower revs, definately worth a look.

Nice I'm going to be ordering the tuner from him as soon as I can I'm looking foward to the increase in performance and shifting!

Its the best performance bang for your buck in my mind (which is a very strange place):D

reduced throttle lag is also very nice...

ive played with my 89 street, and currently my 93 tow tune. the 89 alone is a massive improvement over stock. I still havent tried the 93 street tune yet though...

You've got to let me know what you reckon about that one!

currently on vacation without the X right now till mid next week, but will advise when i have played with the tune...

I'm thinking really hard on slapping a turbo on the mounty, but I have been worried about the tune. I don't want to spend a load of cash on a dyno tune so has anyone heard of a generic turbo tune of sorts..... I know every setup is going to spool and make boost different than the next but do you think its possible that let's say Steve is running 6lbs of boost on his x that the same tune will work on bob's x running 6lbs

I'm sure James could write you a tune to get you close, then you'll need to datalog some runs and send him that info. He'll then be able to fine tune it.

ive played with my 89 street, and 93 tow tunes...

89 street tune is fun, and the 93 tow tune has much more beef in the mid range rpm's, but that being said with my real city driving, the tow tune isnt really that efficient for me as the tune uses more fuel which in the city hurts my mpg. I should have to fill my tank within the next 2 days...

i will try my 93 street tune then...

Waiting for numbers Danny! This tuner stuff has been catching my eye lately and would love to achieve a consistent 20 mpg on road trips. Also some extra torque on a tow tune would make pulling my trailer up the hills of 78 a lot easier.

well with driving in Philly, I can tell you that just driving with the 93 Tow Tune I have, and with the terrible winter blend gas... Im getting like 9 mpg... ( i dont soft step the pedal either )

the tow tunes use more fuel than the street tunes from my understanding from james. the tow tune has more fuel delivery @ low to midrange rpm's...

ill be trying out my 93 street tune this week when i fill up again...

I love the snow alot, but once winter goes away ill be happy also... no winter blended gas, no idling for 5 minutes before you can go anywhere... much better mpg will be happening once spring starts...

Yeah my truck hates winter gas. It's miraculous how much faster it burns through it. And idling to warm it up kills your mileage anyways.

...No worries.

off the bat the tunes are requiring a little bit more fuel to make the extra power we are all looking for. These are some of my contributing factors at the moment as to why my mpg is really low...

1. Street Tune - more fuel / Tow Tune - even more fuel
2. winter blend gas
3. winter = idling vehicle to warm up / prevent damage ( 5 minutes minimum )
4. driving in Philadelphia
5. i dont baby the pedal, but im not flooring it to every traffic light
6. frigid temps

these are my assumptions as to why my mpg is bad...

My mpg got better after the tune, it spiked after airbox mod, exhaust and tyres. Then after putting on the free flowing pipe it spiked again. We dont have a winter blend down here and its the middle of summer and I always idle 'til the rpms drop to normal at warm up. Just wondering whether I need to bother James with that or just enjoy the new top end grunt?....I think I just answered my own question.:biggthump

you could do some data logging, and see if james can tweak the tune he wrote you...

Yeah that will be good but I've always been chasing overtaking power so abit more juice around town won't kill me. I'm prepared to sacrifice mpg for top end grunt, can't have me cake and eat it too I s'pose. Seeing some of the threads on here I've no right to ***** about 14 mpg.
