If I want to use the cruise control, I have to press the "on" button on the steering wheel then press the 'accel control" button. This sets/holds the prevailing speed.

Only when I press the accel control button does the speed control (green) light appear/illuminate on the dash. It does NOT illuminate when I just press the "on" button. However, if I don't press to on button first, the accel control button will not function.

Dash light is obviously working, on button is obviously working so...why would the light not illuminate when I push the on button?

Is this light not supposed to light on pressing the "on" button. OR, is there a second light on the dash that is either not responding or is perhaps blown?

Thanks.

The green speed control light only comes on when the speed control is activated and maintaining the vehicle speed. The ON button allows the cruse control to be used but does not turn the light on like other makes and models.

Thanks your answer.

So how do you know whether or not the cruise system is "on" or "off", before you attempt to actually set the speed, using the set accel button? Do you just get in the habit of always pressing the "on" button first?

What about if you have to tap the brake whilst you're on cruise, the light goes ot and you have to remember whether or not the system was "on", before you press the resume button?

Dang, that's a lot to remember whilst you're busy texting.

lol great.. I'm thinking that's not a good habit anyhow!

But anyways yeah you just remember if its in the on mode or not. By tapping the brake you just cancel the cruse but the system is still on. For me i just remember if i had the cruse on since i started my truck last. I rarely turn it off with the OFF button so i just let it shut itself off when i turn the truck off.

Otherwise just hit the on button before you set the cruse it doesn't hurt anything just another step.

AH, Thanks for clarifying. At least I now know it's not a fault.

The reason you have to use both buttons is that.....thats just how it works. Its so you dont inadvertently turn on the cruise control when you dont want to.
