Where is the speed sender on our first gens? I know it's on the transmission but am unsure of the specific spot. I'm gonna be installing a digital speedometer and it requires an electronic sender to be added.

On your 4x4 it's in the tcase. Since I had a 2wd, I'm not sure exactly where, though I do know it's held in by a single bolt.

Maybe the speedo gear writeup in the tips section of the main site has a clue?
 






I justed checked under transfer case in my Chilton's, and found the sensor location. It shows a speed sensor and speedometer cable. Is the sensor the sender?
 






Yes, it's a gear driven speedo cable. Your 91 speedo is mostly mechanical.
 






Here's the speedometer I bought:

So couldn't I tap into the speed sensor wires for this, or is that a completely different thing?
