Welcome to this forum! It's the opposite way around. If there's an intermittent issue with the speed sensor, then you will have issues with the cruise control. The speed sensor provides a signal for the speedometer, cruise control, ABS, and transmission shift points. Are you experiencing issues with all of these things? Does this only happen when you tilt the steering wheel? Sometimes the issue is in the steering column. Wires get damaged from tilting the wheel, then there are intermittent shorts against metal which is grounded. Other times it could be due to melted wiring against the exhaust, the speed sensor, the reluctor ring in the differential or even metallic dust which gets caught on the sensor from the brakes or from the differential. The sensor might need to be cleaned.
