cruise and speedometer both quit working.

I looked and didnt find any real answers so here we go... 95 explorer, was driving to work today with the cruise set at 65 and suddenly with no warning at all the cruise quit and the speedometer dropped to 0. (odometer also not working) 8 hrs later I drove off and speedometer was working. i engaged the cruise, got the speed control light on the dash maybe for a second and they both stopped working again. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/speedometer.htm says that i should be getting 190-250 ohms from the diconnected sensor and i am getting 235-238. after checking the resisance i drove it again to see if heat was an issue. the speedometer did not come on however i pushed the cruise off button and the needle jumped to around 10mph and right back to zero where its been ever since. ideas? :roll:

did a few more tests on it. am pretty sure the vss is shot. will see after autozone opens.
