After messing with the punch, a brass drift and a large flat blade screwdriver to no avail I ended up making a tool to be able to remove the spindle bearing from my wife's 94. The bearing has a rounded shell and sits in a flare so the straight on method only gets a tangential bite and ends up constantly slipping off instead of moving the bearing. So I got an old flat blade screwdriver with a busted tip out of the drawer, ground the end flat to be the punch and took out the shoulders of the blade making it look more like a "T" so I could fit in the flare. Took about three minutes. Took even less time to remove the bearings. Yet another custom tool added to the drawer. Best part: it's and old Popular Mechanics screwdriver made (and now modified) in the US of A.
