From day one, my brake pedal on my 96 sport was very stiff and responsive. However, since I've had the brake pads replaced (twice in the past 3 years), the pedal has slowly become more and more "spongey". On top of this, sometimes my car starts to roll slightly at stop lights and I have to apply additional force to the pedal to stop it.

I would have thought that putting on new pads would make the brake "stiff" again. This did not happen.

Some information:

1.) My brake lines were not bled when I had new pads put on (in both cases).

2.) My latest set of front pads are made from ceramic.

3.) I have NOT observed a brake fluid leak anywhere

Should the lines be bled everytime new pads are put on? Are my calipers bad?

Im totally baffled so any help would be appreciated.

Have your brake fluid flushed.

Flush your brake fluid. You also might want to check to see what condition your brake lines are in, and maybe have those replaced also.

Check your vacuum line. I would also bleed your brakes.

I'm going to replace the brake lines with new steel lines. Hopefully this will eliminate all problems.

Could it be that my master cylinder is going bad?

Any suggestions for steel brake line manufacturers?

When the master cylinder is bad the pedal will go to the floor.

thanks for the info. I'll take a look!
