Sport trac and Explorer owner

Hey guys. New to the forum. Just introducing and trying to figure out an issue I have with my 02 4x4 explorer. I bought the truck today. Super nice condition one owner and bone stock for 1000 bucks I bought it knowing its having issues hopefully I can take care of. Has od off light flashing quickly along with a small jolt after up shift. Anyone have this problem? Easy fix? Where do I start?

Welcome to the forum. Our 99 Sport has the same flashing o/d light after driving it on the highway for about 15 mins. Shifts seem fine.

thanks for posting the link. I think my problem might be a little different then the ones posted. My o/d off light comes on as soon as I start the truck and stays blinking the entire time. It's blinking super quick too. Shifting a little funny seems like the jolt is delayed a little bit after the shift. Rpms seem to be normal at all speeds too. Not really sure if it's just an elec. issue or what. If I press od button nothing happens and light continues flickering

Drop the pan and see whats rolling around in the bottom of it. A fluid and filter never can hurt anyway.

yeah I was thinking of taking it to a shop and getting fluid and filter changed

shop? its an 02. Best get up close and personal now. grab a 7mm socket, a in lbs torque wrench, a pump gun and half a dozen quarts of mercon v and 5 dollar special tool to fill er back up.

deffinetly could do it myself but I figured after I buy fluid filter pump gun and what ever that special nipple thing is called I could of took it to like Valvoline shop for less
