Sport vs Sport Trac

Does anyone know if the factory 16X7 wheels w/ 255/70/16 have the same offset on the 2002 Sport vs the Sport Trac??? Tire Rack gave me some BS about it not being the same and that I can't get the 18X8.5 w/ 255/55/18 that is available on the Sport Trac but not on the Sport, and how it rubs the brake lines, sway bars, etcc..

As far as I know 2001+ Sports and Sporttracs are the same.

So, i'll just tell TireRack I have an 02 Sport Trac so they can sell me some wheels and tires.

Better yet, tell them you have a Jeep. Lately they've been refusing to sell wheels and tires for Ford products, esp. Explorers. If they give you crap about the offset or backspacing, just tell them you want what you want and it's for a custom project. Basically you need to know the exact measurements that you want to make sure they don't send you the wrong thing.

That was the Sales Clerk's excuse for the day. He either doesn't know the real reason (Ford sent them a letter warning them that they can't sell non-standard size tires and wheels to Explorer owners) or he knew the real reason but was trying to make it more believable. I would guess on number 1.

Can't you order online from the 'rack? If so, do they make you type in your vehicle?? I've heard lots of complaints about tirerack not selling to Explorer owners.

They don't have any wheel packages for the 01-02 Explorer Sport but they do for the Sport Trac. I basically picked the Sport Trac and see what it'll look like on their interactive wheel machine program. The Moda R7 and the Mille Miglia Mesa looked pretty good in 18X8.5. They told me the Moda was 28.5 lbs and the Mesa was 28 lbs. At $189 each, it's a great deal. I was going to put the Kumho Ecsta STX 255/55/18 tires at $98 each. I don't know, that combo should look good and still be around $1200 shipped!! The tires are V rated and should give me good performance when driving aggressively on the street. Plus, i can save my stock wheels and tires for winter use.
