sprung a leak

ok i just need a quick answer so i can start working without doubting the quality/safety blah blah blah of my new hub. i bought some new hubs on ebay and one has some oil on it, i assume its coming from the inside and i dont think it should do that because its supposed to be a sealed unit. am i right? should i return it? let me know asap please, thanks

my guess is it just came oiled so that the outside wouldn't rust before instalation, but i could be wrong. If it looks like its coming from around the seal then that should be an indication if not then it could just be "pre-oiled"

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought there was grease in the hubs anyhow..

Indeed, likely an anti-rust coating to stop it from getting rusty on the shelf. The innards are greased.
