IF is switched my airdam to the ones with Round Fog lights...and I have the Rectangle lights...would the wiring harness work from the square ones to the round ones, or would i have to make some changes under their?

great question. I am curious as well

I don't think that it is just as easy as switching the air dams. If you are meaning to switch to the model year 1999+ round style fog lights, then I'm pretty sure you'll have to switch to the 99+ style bumper. If you PM espnfreak or 95XLT, I'm sure they can give you the details on switching the bumpers.

If you do decide to switch bumpers to get the round lights, I'm sure that your current wiring can be used for the new lights without a problem. Just connect the positive on the truck to the positive on the light and the negative on the truck to the negative on the light. Easy as cake.

BTW: If either of you decide to switch to the new bumper, I might be interested in taking your old air dam with the square holes for the fogs. Provided that it is grey and in good condition.

Do the new style airdams not come until 99? I was really hoping that it was at 98...i was going to get the bumper from Paxton off of his '98 X and then get a 98 airdam hoping that it had the round fog lights...i might have to cancel that order. Thanks for the info.

I have a friend that has a 98 with the square foglights..
The wiring looked the same as the one in my 99 ( I have round lights). It was a jumper connnector. and appeared to be the same... but for your 96 I don't know, look at a 99 to see if they will work...

According to Campo, they switched to the round lights in 99. The 98's still had the square ones in the air dam.

Ok, so if i wanted to change my Front airdam to the round fogs ...then i have to get a 99 bumper and a 99 airdam....Correct?

XLT_66: I am fairly sure you are correct. I would send a message to espnfreak or 95XLT to be 100% certain. They each switched from the 95-98 style bumpers to the 99+ style.

donaldbc: Thanks for the tip!! That is a pretty good deal for a new one. What do you know about the company though?? Any past customers here on the boards I can ask about them?? And are the parts Ford factory parts or aftermarket??

There was someone on the board that put a 99 bumper on there older model X ( can't remember) but they just put the new bumper on and the wiring fit ( don't remember all the stat's) but the round fog lights started in 99, before that they were square... I don't think it would take to much to change them...

Stephen,

More than likely they are aftermarket, but the way I look at it, with this part in particular, it's molded plastic, as long as the colors are the same it shouldn't matter.

Yeah, that might be. I was just hoping that they would be OEM so I could be sure the color would match and the fit would be right.
