Hey folks, hoping someone here can help me out. On the rare occasion that I hit the max revs taking off from a dead stop there is an annoying squeak from the engine compartment during the 1-2 gear change. Could it be a worn serpentine? Any ideas? I have an 06 v8 explorer with 102,000 miles.

Thanks!

that would be my first guess of replacing the serp belt, while you have the belt off check all the pulleys to your belt.feel for the smooth and quiet rotation of all .sep. belts will make noise while still looking good.do not use belt dressing on a serp belt, will sometimes make the noise worse.

I can see why a noise like that would be annoying, and I’m glad to see 1st explorer posted suggestions. I’m not sure I’ll be able to help, but if you’re going to be taking it to a Ford dealership to have the noise diagnosed, feel free to message me with the details.

Thank you for letting me know. I've been a bit swamped with messages and I’ve been busy working to reply to each request. I appreciate your patience while I catch up.
