I have these triple-edged, lifetime warranty windshield wipers on my ex that I got when I bought the truck about 11 months ago. At first I figured the squeakiness would go away after they get broken in a little bit, apparently not. It has been 11 months and these wipers still have an ear-piercing squeak to them. My dad has the same ones on his ex and his do not squeak on his or mine. so my question is, is there some way to.... persuade.... these wipers to get worn in any faster? Or should I just get new wipers ;)

You might want to try wiping down your windshield with rubbing alcohol to remove all contaminants. That could be the cause.

Or you could pick up some Michelin Radius wipers which are freaking sweet wipers and damn near silent. You've had the other ones on long enough. They most likely won't get any better.

I second that I own a pair of these, have never heard them - after, ofcourse you try wiping with rubbing alchohol. I have heard carbon/chemical build up on your windshield causes the wiper sqeek/rattle as well as that really really annoying and blinding sun glare when you hit that oh so perfect angle (which seems to happen A LOT.)

p.s. - dude, how sweet would it be if they made like crystal clear windshield wipers? might just be me that thinks its sweet...

I agree. Clear wipers AND clear wiper arms would be cool!!!

Ahaha thanks for all the responses, I just got some new wipers ;) But yeah it might be cool to have crystal clear wipers!

Living here where we get 40+ inches of rain annually, I have learned to use
Rain-X on the windshield. Clean it well first, and what it does is fill any pores in the glass. Like a really good wax does on the paint, water will bead and slide right off. You can actually drive in most light rain without wipers on, but it will also stop squeaking.

+1 on that. I am madly in love with Rain-X.

dido, I use half rain-x half cleaner, works sweeet!

but yeah, I would totally buy clear ones and roll up to all the honders and acurers with those 'sweet' colored blades and eurowipers (one blade) and be like "yeah I got clear, wWHAT!?!"

i used rainx and silicone (maybe teflon) wiper blades...works great..AND DOES NOT SQUEAK

I dont like those triple edge things

Yep the tripple edge are POS.

The best way of cleaning the windshield is to use Bon-Ami. It is fine enough that it does not scratch the windshield. DO NOT USE COMET as it will scratch the glass.

Bon Ami rocks- I've cleaned my windshields for years every other wash to get all of hte junk off them.

Triple edge wipers are ridiculous- they're the predecessor to the 48-blade razor... Total overkill. :D

I had radius wipers on my Ex and took them off- I didn't like how the edges didn't want to stay down on the highway- put metal ones back on, but that's just me.

I used to like Rain-X but, I had a 1995 Camaro SS with T-tops (white body-black top) and I was **** about keeping the thing spotless. I noticed after a while that in the sun I could see what looked like irridescant "oil" on the t-tops and it looked like it was smeared from driving fast. I then talked to more people on another forum and they talked about how your windshield get's used to it and it is a PITA to remove. I tried all sorts of different safe solvents/cleaners to get the "oily" look off of my t-tops and nothing worked. It finally wore off after a couple of months of not using Rain-X anymore. When I was using the product I did like it, just had a bad experience on my camaro.

I still think it's amazing, that with all the technology we have in today's world, a mechanical arm with a silicone blade is what we use to remove water from teh windshield. We can put a man on the moon, perform extensive brain surgery, and 8 year old are more capable at video games then some adults, yet we still use a mechanical function to remove water. Wonder if it'll always be like this, or will there be something kickass coming out.

I'll add this about Rain-X.

DO NOT USE IT ON PLASTIC. I had a 92 Cougar that had yellowed headlight lenses. I polished them out then used Rain-X on them. The Rain-X made them worse than what I had started with:mad:

Other than that I've never had a problem with Rain-X.

I hear ya man. The Earth yearns for the day of the compact midget.

But let's think of some other options: A 400 degree windshield to dissolve water upon contact, good idea. Maybe that wizard guy from the Lord of the Rings telling the water "You shall not pass!", superb idea. But the best bet is simply to blow up the sky. No sky, no rain.

Oh yeah about the wipers...I vote go for the RainX, if that doesn't solve it, try some new wipers.

I'm glad I could asist a spark into such an in-depth view into human's accomplishments and the strive to become a better species. hahah :P

Good thread gold_expl!!! A++

but seriously, that heated window idea... doesn't Mercedes and Porsche have theirs heated now to get rid of icey/foggy windows? We alrady know how to do this!! WHY ARN'T WE EVAPORATING RAIN ON CONTACTT? hahahah

Ford needs to add lines (like the ones on the back window but clear) on the front window, every morning my windows are fogged up, actually thats why i started this thread, i needed my windshield wipers on to get rid of the fog for the few minutes before the heat fixes the annoying problem.
And also I am glad everyone is enjoying this thread :D
