Not sure if it is coming from right or left side, but it's only when in motion. I sprayed the sway bushings with wd40 and it stopped for a day but came back. I bought some spray grease to lube my cracked upper control arm bushings and tried to spray the sways but since they aren't cracked it doest penetrate well (the stuff is kinda thick). Could it be power steering related if it only squeaks on right turns? It' a just driving me crazy.
Also (I'm going for a two-fer here), I'm getting serpentine belt squeaks that I think are near or at the attachment to the alternator. I need belt lube right? Guy I bought the explorer from said he replaced the belt around 90k and I'm at 115k now. On yeah, it's an 02 xlt 4x2.
Also, my power steering reservoir looks a little low. I read you guys put ATF in. Would it be ok for me to top off with ATF? Thanks guys

Could be the sway bar bushings. WD dries out fast.

ATF works fine in the power steering pump. I've done it many times.

I would (and did on mine) replace the bushings (cheap and easy). Your power steering fluid is MERCON V (same stuff your tranyy uses)

Belt lube may work BUT you should never need to use it. Change the belt if the noise is still there you will need to find out witch pulley is causing the problem.

Maybe its the upper ball joint on the right side I just had mine replaced.

This should say, "... spray lithium grease..."

I just stopped by WallyWorld on the way home to get more wd40 (used the last of can the first time I sprayed the bushings). I sprayed the sway bushings and (I think) the upper control arm ball joints. I'm going to look around to make certain that I know what these parts are. EDIT ** I searched these out and I'm on board here with the parts familiarity.

As I'm sure you guys can tell, I'm not completely familiar with the truck or any auto really... but I'm sure as hell trying to catch up.
So after the wd40 I didn't hear the noise... until I was almost home (a 10 minute drive). Its back already. Hmmm. Do you think that the upper control arm boots (being cracked) are causing this? They used to have that deep bedspring creaking over speed bumps. This went away after the lithium grease application.
And about the belt chatter... How long do these belts last? If it was changed 25k miles ago, do you think it needs replacing already? It sure looks new.
Thanks for the help. :salute:
