Squeaking/Squealing from wheel area

I don't understand this but i have a loud squeal from my front passenger wheel area. This squeal ONLY happens when driving and it's not constant.. it cuts in and out and sometimes stays for a while while tires are spinning. EVERYTIME i hit the brakes the noise goes away completely.. yet only to return when i take my foot back off the brake. It sounds like something is loose and is some sort of metal touching metal while the wheel is spinning.. does anyone have any ideas? i took the wheel off and looked and everything looked fine from what i could see.. i just figured someone else might have had this problem.

Did you check the brake pads....I am guessing you probably did, but you describe a squeeler going off on the pads telling you to replace the pads.

I agree with dave, it sounds like your pads need replacing.

that's sort of what i figured was the problem.. i haven't replaced the pads in about 3 years lol.. but i just thought it was weird that the squealing went away after i hit the brakes

It could also be bearings. Do you have manual or auto hubs?
