Squeaky Clutch

Anyone have an idea why my clutch squeaks/squeels when going from dead stop to rolling in 1st gear? At least I think it is the clutch. Any help is appreciated.

My friends Rangers clutch squeeks whenever you push it in....it drives me nuts. It sounds like its coming from the master cylinder...anyone have a way to get this thing quiet? Thanks

Pack, sorry but I can't answer your prob, but I can comment on 4x4Ranger's question.
My Ranger had that same noise for a long time. It eventually went away! In the August 2000 Four Wheeler, there is a letter in the tech column asking about the same pushing-in-the-clutch squeak. Willie Worthy replies that it is most likely the clutch release bearing, and possibly caused by resting your foot on the clutch pedal, or holding the clutch in at stoplights. I don't know though, cuz I don't have those habits.

Hmmm Thanks RangerX. I'm going to do a little investigating on her Ranger (95 4.0 4x4) this weekend. Hopefully I can come up with something on what the problem is. She just got the truck, so who knows what the previous owner drove like. That'd be nice if it just went away! Thanks man

Hey 4x4Ranger, does it squeak worse in cold weather?? The clutch in my '92 explorer is fine when the temp is above 40°, but squeaks like crazy every time you push it in when the cab temp is below 40°. I've tracked it down to the bushing where the clutch pedal arm is attached to the clutch cylinder rod, but I never got around to fixing it before my truck got wrecked. You might want to check up there. I think it has something to do with the wear, but a relube might fix it. I know mine wasn't in the throwout bearing since I had a new tranny, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and throwout bearing put in before the truck got wiped.

Does the squeak come from the pedal itself in the cab? if so my Navajo did the same thing, i just sprayed a little silicone lubricant and it stopped for a while(3months), the squeak came back, I sprayed it again, went away again, don't use an oily residue spray like wd-40, make sure it is dry. or dust and dirt might stick to it.

my old toyota did tha too. check the hinge that the pedal is on. and lube it up. also if it does it from a dead stop to while rolling in first it may just be gear whine as the engine is winding up and wants the tranny to be shifted
