So I've had the common condition of explorer stalling out in drive at idle - like at a stop light. This will happen when it is both hot and cold.
I smoked the engine and found a vaccum leak in a hose which I repalced. I also found a partially burnt spark plug wire and replaced them all. I replaced the IAC just so I could rule it out. I reset the battery afterwards.
It idles like glass in park, nuetral, reverse, and low 1. It will immediately stall in D and low 2.
With a hot engine, I tried shifting from Neutral to Drive at 1000rpms and it still stalls out. Shifting from Low 1 to both Drive and Low 2 will stall.
The stall is immediate, no surge or stumble, just cuts out. I have CEL light but have no way of reading it.
Seems like a transmission issue yes? I will note that I had the valve body including the solenoid pack replaced this past summer because I botched a shift kit install.
