quick question:
I want to buy wrench and sockets for my 08 Explorer. Are they using Standard or Metric, or both?
I checked the lug nuts and they looked like metric with 19mm. Thanks.

There will be a mix, but way more metric than SAE.

Are you really trying to find an excuse to buy LESS tools? Buy both sets...lol

Yeah- good point! WTH!?! :D

For lugnuts I use 19mm or 3/4 - they happen to be the same, but I believe evry car these days use both.

Overall you can do more with metrics, and I find more of those on my explorer.

As the engine is cast at 'Eisenwerke Bruehl' and assembeled in 'Cologne Hall W' the V6 has been metric ever since.

With the early 90s Ford moved to metric piece for piece.
