Friday after driving about 20 minutes I stopped for say, three minutes. On restart, the engine turned over just fine, seemed to "take," then stalled within less than 2 seconds--a couple of revolutions at best. This happened three times in short order. I did not notice any engine "contortions" that would point to, say, a timing problem. Compression and turnover seemed normal and smooth.
I then waited 2-3 minutes, and the engine started fine.
I checked codes today with OBD reader. No stored codes.
Over the past year, I have noticed a COLD start issue about 4-5 times. Very rarely, the engine will turn over then stop with a kind of "crack" that hints at, perhaps, a timing issue.
Condition. 70K miles. Recent plugs wires. Clean air filter. Battery excellent. Recently cleaned out IAC and MAF for rough idle. Checked TP sensor for smooth operation. Rough idle better but still intermittent. Recently replaced PCV valve and hoses for same reason. Have not touched EGR at this point. No codes KOEO or KOER in past month (or ever, for that matter).
