Starter Problem

Went to start my X and it wouldnt start, all it did was click once and that was it. So I figure the starter is shot (only a year and a half old), I roll it into my garage and let if thaw for a few hours so I can work on it. I go back out after its been warm in the garage for a few hours and it fires right up. So I pull it out of the garage and let it run for 10 minutes, shut it off and catch a ride with my mom to a christmas dinner. I come back 4 hours later and all it does is click once and wont start again. Some help!

Check all you battery/starter connections to make sure they are tight. Also, your problem could be the solenoid under the hood (either on the firewall or the fenderwell).

all connestions are tight and the relay on the fenderwell is fine. When its been in a warm garage for awhile I can take a screwdriver and touch the two points on the relay and it will turn over. It will also start completely with the key if it hasnt been sitting in the cold. Short of buying a new starter (pain in the ass to change on these) im stumped.

Are you sure it isn't your battery? From what you are describing it sounds like your battery may not be up to the task when it's cold.

try boosting it when cold, , if it starts , it's not the starter,,
than if it does start look at the battery next, batteries produce more amps when warm than they do when cold,,

tried to jump it when it first happened, no luck. My battery is rated at 750cca at 0 degrees
