Starting 96 X in cold weather PROBLEM

Hello.

I am having a problem w/ my 96 manual transmission ford explorer. If I don't use it for a period of 9-10 hours, it will not start up. It'll try to turn but then just 'click-click'. It seems like the battery is getting drained. On colder nights, it seems to be dying faster than on warmer nights. If I jump it using my wife's car, it works ok.

I had the battery, the starter and the alternator checked by AutoZone. They said they were all ok. Once it's started the battery meter is normal. However, in the morning the meter is very low. I've cleaned the terminals on the cables.

Upon looking at other threads, my best bet is to attach a voltmeter and see if anything is still drawing from the battery. Is that the way you guys would proceed? Or does something else jump out at you?

battery cables, try a search you will find ALOT of threads about bad battery cables. Pretty common issue when your battery checks out.

Chances are if you are having an explorer problem, it has been discussed on these forums...

You can also leave the door open on the truck and check after an hour or so and make sure the interior lights have been turned off.

The battery saver relay turns off interior lights and some other stuff after a period of time.
