I STARTED MY 5 SPEED SWAP FROM THE A4LD, I WAS ON MY THIRD AUTO SO I DECIDED TO CONVERT TO A FIVE SPEED. I PULLED THE TRANS OUT OF A RANGER LIKE A 86. I KNOW IT'S WEEK BUT IT'S STILL BETTER THAN REPLACING AUTOS ALL THE TIME. THIS GIVES ME PROVISIONS FOR LATER. :salute:

sounds good....have you actually startted the swap yet?..if so ...
where are the pics. Have ytou pulled all the wirring and the gem form the ranger too?

oh btw you might want to fix your post so it's not all caps...before a modrator chews you out.

sorry bout that, acually i'm putting a manual trans in. but the clutch and brake pedal assy, is in, the trans is in. i'm going to finish under the truck tonight when i do exhaust, transfer case, and drive shafts. then all thats left will be the clutch master cylinder and hooking the pedal up and mount the reservoir. i'm also installing an electric fan while i'm working on it

Well looks like you have everything under controll. Good to see you going for the 5speed. I did mine last year and am still loving it.

ran into problems with the clutch last night. the truck moved about 100 feet and the clutch disc for some reason is stuck on the input shaft. i'll be repairing that this weekend, i hope.

First order of bussiness would be to put a new pilot bearing in end of crankshaft. Second would be to replace or resurface flywheel. Third would be to replace complete clutch assembly with new one. Next check the input shaft splines on old trans
and input shaft bearing/seal in trans case. Alway replace the hydraulic slave cyld/throw-out bearing if your setup uses this style.

the slave cylinder was locking up, replaced and everything works with no issues. the swap is now complete and ready to roll. had to wire up reverse lights and 4 low switch. got it inspected and it's back on the road. overall it was a pretty easy swap. next order, stereo
