I kinda knew this was going to happen.. I am trying to get my pan off my 99 ex sport sohc 5r55e to do the vb rebuild and I cant get it off because the exhaust baffle that is screwed to the exhaust pipe well the screws are totally frozen there are no threads at all! I am ready to get the saw out!!! Is this the way to go?? help!

You need to remove it, if you bend it up out out of the way it will just break, there is one nut holding it on from above(10mm), yes it is hard to get to but not impossible. or remove the cat/conv.
P.S. if you discard this shield you will cook the seals on your servo pistons.

ok got that off butt.......

how should i get the cat off there are 2 bolts going to the exhaust manifold and 2 bolts after the cat going to the exhaust that are totally rusted out big time ... no visible threads at all!! should i cut the pipe??? thanks for helpin me out at this difficult time!!:)
 






The best way is to torch the bolts off and when you get the cat out you can drive the studs out and replace with bolts.
I would not cut the pipe because its not round infront and would have to be welded back, even if you are a great welder its almost impossible to get to and that metal is bit@hy to weld, so is the y-pipe just for referance.

I did get the bolts off over the weekend!! I did not have any fire so I used one of those dremel wizards!! I put one of the cutting discs on it and went to town on those bolts!!
