I have 200,000 on the original steering box out of my '91 XLT. When I had my truck aligned the shop stated that the box was real sloppy and recommended getting it rebuilt or replaced. Sitting on jack stands I can grab the front tires and move them quite a bit. I do have a lot of accessive wandering on the road to. Anyone rebuilt one of these puppies or should I get one of those AGR Boxes for Jeeps? Motorcraft OEM unit?
Thanks for the info.

I just rebuilt mine - very easy. A seal kit is about $30. You do need a special tool to get the worm drive seals off. Other than that it's no big deal. It's cheaper to do this than buy a new one. Took about 4 hours total...

I might being doing this soon.

Where did you get the kit?

My problem,, minot accident, turn wheel, hit brakes, clipped taillight, no damage. The weird part is now my alignment is way off, visibly, and my gear box is leaking bad around the pitman arm shaft. Maybe I knocked something loose by turning wheels and hitting brakes. It almost looks like the pitman arm shaft is coming out, about 1/2" splines showing, but the nut is tight.
