I am getting ready to order the parts for my poor truck...but I am a bit confused. The shop that did the estimate didn't mention inner and outer tie rod ends...only *tie rod end*

On the LMCTruck site this pic shows the parts well in an exploded view...

It looks Like I need to order Parts 1 through 6, we have the pitman arm already. Is that correct if I am replacing the whole steering linkage? (gods I must sound really stupid, but well...maybe I am :p: )

I plan on replacing the left side as well, since she will be up in the air and torn apart. We also will be replacing the radius arm bushings while the truck is in the air.

Another thing I need to clarify is, I guess, should I also buy the adjusting sleeves new for the whole shebang? Or will my old ones work? Also, is it worthe putting the Steering Stabilizer Kit on? It isn't a lot of money if it really does what it says it does...

Gee can we tell who is a total NEWB to 4WDs? :p:

I'm Confused  and feel like I came 15 min late to a movie. You forgot/didn't mention why you're replacing all these steering parts to begin with. Are you experiencing a problem, being pro-active, or were told the parts were bad by a shop?

That being said you are correct.. Parts 1-6 would be required if you are replacing the entire steering system. The Old pitman arm you have is HEAVY duty and will last the lifetime of your truck. IMO I would only replace the adjusting sleeves if they looked worn, or very rusted, or were inexpensive. The sleeves are used by the alignment shop when adjusting Toe in/out.

Yea she fixing crash damage on her Ranger. I think the Steering Stabilizer might be up to you since i am sure alot of folks are gonna tell you to not run it.

But I have one on X just single stabilizer and it did make a difference with the 35's i am running.

I was pleasantly surprised when I installed my steering stabilizer with 33's. No extra pressure on the wheel required (while moving) and considerably less bump steer. It will work your arms if you try to turn the wheels without moving. But that's just a wast of tire anyways.

DeRocha, sorry that I didn't mention my truck was wrecked two weeks before Christmas, by my hubby. :D I complained about it/him enough here...but yes, it needs to be replaced due to damage as Cybergasm said...

Thanks Cyber and little x for the input on the steering stabilizer...I was thinking about ordering/installing one, mainly due to the roads where I live, huge ruts/potholes and lots of rough riding...

Ok, well I will be ordering things come this weekend, all going well...or picking them up in town IF anyone has the stuff in stock.

Thanks all for your input and answers...sometimes I still feel like a babe (old crone) in the woods with this truck, despite my years of working on stuff when I was younger. :p:
