The steel lines on the steering rack are so rusty I am afraid they are going to blow out. The only lines I can find are for right hand drive. 2000 explorer 5.0. Please Help Lil Joe

Often they aren't sold separately, a few years back (if not more recently) someone posted that they couldn't find them, ended up buying a new rack and swapping the lines from the new rack to the old installed rack.

However, I see both the left and right pressure lines (for left hand drive) available on Rock Auto and Autozone, maybe elsewhere. A-1 CARDONE 3L1204 and 3L1205.

If you need the tube that goes end to end between each boot too, it may not have flared fittings, might be something that you can just buy a piece of bulk tube and cut and bend (close enough to be out of the way of anything else) to length.

Isn't that end to end tube just for air pressure equalization? If so I might just paint my old one and reuse it, or if the rust scale is too bad to consider cleaning that off, maybe coat it in epoxy or grease, if you can't find bulk tubing to make a new one. I wonder if it even needs to be metal or if you could just use *whatever* and strap it down if it's not rigid, though metal is thinner walled, it might require adding nipples to each end or something to adapt a different outer diameter tube to retain enough inner diameter.

These showed up for one with an SOHC engine, are listed that way but the same rack lines are used for all of them.

Thanks for all the replies. Lil Joe
