I have a 2000 Limited 5.0L V8. This weekend I replaced the upper and lower ball joints and inner and outter tie rods. About a week before I jacked up the front end to grease everything and thats when I figured out parts needed to be replaced. Ever since then its been shaking when on the highway and got the death wobble a time or two. After some searching on here i thought it was just air in the rack so i sat in the garage with the front end in the air and the truck running turning the wheel lock to lock. I drove it all day sunday and half the day today before I brought it to the shop to have the tires balanced. ITS STILL SHAKING and pissing me off. Anyone have any ideas? Should I just give it time to see if theres still air in it? PLEASE HELP!!!

Did it start shaking before or after you did the ball joints and tie rods? I don't see how air in the PS system would result in the shaking you are describing.

It started before I replaced everything. When I jacked it up to grease everything I was turning the wheels with the truck turned off. From what I've been reading that forces air into the system

I had the same problem and the only way it stoped was to turn the wheel back and forth with the wheels on the ground I did this with the truck running then off then running again. I went to a dirt parking lot.
Every time I Jack both front tires off the ground this happens air gets in the power steering and turning the wheels with the front jacked up makes it worse. If you get on the highway after turning the wheels with the front jacked up you will think the tires are going to fall off the truck.

I will deff give a try with it on the ground. Anything is worth trying when its free :) I just hope my rack isn't going out, from what posts I can find about replacing it, it dosent look fun. Thanks for the replys!!

don't be worried too much about the rack, just start the Ex up, while it is running, turn the wheels left and right all the way a few times, and it will go away, don't jack it up, do it with them on the ground,
it is air in the lines, if you move the wheels side to side with the motor off it happens every time,

and yes, changing a rack is not fun, i tried, and ended up taking it somewhere to get it done, they have to take it all apart to get it in, by removing the inner tie rods,

Well I tried turning the wheels lock to lock quite a few times with the truck running and on the ground and its still shaking!! Im going to try changing the fluid and turning the wheels a few more times and see it that helps. Keep the ideas comming!! Anyone have a good post on swapping out the rack if thats what it turns out to be?

Yup I had an alignment done and had the tires balanced. I brought it to another shop today, they had it for 3 hours and couldn't figure out what's wrong with it. I was really leaning towards air in the system but after 4 days of driving it and its still shaking, I am at a loss.

Well still no change, its still "wobbling". It starts at like 10-15mph and dosent go away. I've had the tires balanced and rotated about 6 times and nothing helps. I've brought it to 4 different shops and none of them can figure it out. I hate to do it but if i cant get it figured out soon I'm going to have to get rid of the damn thing. Anyone have any more ideas??

did you try changing one of the tires at a time for the spare, could be a bent rim ?
maybe a bad tire, ,
maybe a bent axle in the back,
just tossing out ideas here,

Passenger side caster adjustment?

Well just an update, turns out I had a bad tire. The shop I paid to balance and ROTATE the tires never rotated them. So I did it myself and now the back of my truck is shaking. After thinking about it, the same day I jacked it up to grease everything I also hit a manhole cover that is sunken into the blacktop almost 4". So this weekend I will be switching from the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S to Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2.
