Steering wheel controls not working

I have a 02 eddie bauer explorer. I know how to hook up the audio controls with my aftermarket headunit that is not the problem. The only thing that is broken is the button to turn the heat up. The button to turn the heat down works sometimes when the steering wheel is turned just right. How can I fix this.

Its the clockspring. Its not real hard to do, its just frustrating (sp?). You have to completely center your wheel and make sure you don't turn it. Tape it straight. If it moves, the clockspring can only turn so many times one way so if you make a full wheel cut it will break again. There are probably many tutorials on this.
