Step bar removal

I removed my step bars which really makes the x look higher but I can't stand the ugly holes left behind. Did they really have to put 50 holes to hold the things up?

I noticed some members have done away with their holes, Section525 has I think. So how do I do it and hopefully without having to buy anything else?

Unless you cut the holes off you are proly going to have to buy something. What I was thinkin of doing is either buying the piece of molding that comes on Explorers without running boards and putting that on or, buying little plug type deals and painting them gray to match the color of my rockers. I was thinking of something like the little things that hold the door panel to the door, maybe something like that would work.
