I've searched around but can't seem to find any answers.

My issue is that my cd player all of a sudden no longer reads burned CDs. Literally over night, my CD player stopped reading any new burned CDs while it has zero problem playing older burned CDs.

I've used multiple burning software, the same CD-Rs as well as other brands of CD-Rs. Absolutely nothing changed with any of the discs or programs, but absolutely nothing newly burned can be read.

Is this a hardware issue with the stereo system/CD player? Anybody else having these issues.

I appreciate the time and help.

2013 Ford Explorer Base (No Sync installed).

Welcome to the Forum.
If you are able to play the old ones but not the newly burned ones, I would think that it an issue with the new CD's and not the player itself.

Thanks for the reply.

I've not only used the same CD-Rs that were previously working but I've also bought 2 new sets of CD-R from 2 different companies (Memorex and Verbatim) and all 3 no longer work. So that, along with the fact I've also used the same burning program as well as a couple others to try it out - they all end up with the same result.

I can't help but think it's the Ford's system....

I have the base system with no Sync:

I've been wanting to upgrade so bad, but the price is insane to do so. I just figured since the CD player and system is a base model, maybe some of the newer songs and formats out there the system struggles to read.

Ohwell, but I appreciate the response.

UPDATE: I've tried all the newer CDs in my wife's vehicle and my in-law's vehicles and they play just fine. So it's definitely my vehicle and the system itself. I thought maybe a problem with the laser, but it doesn't have any problem playing my older CDs from literally a month or two ago.....

I'm confused

Unplayable CD's finalized? It's been YEARS since I've burned a CD, but IIRC, finalization was not needed on "newer" players. Just a thought.

Finalizing isn't the issue as my old CDs were all finalized and TOC isn't added to the cd without it. (I did try it without finalizing it after reading your post just to check but no success.) The tests and trials will continue on
