I Had the Factory Cassette Stereo with the 6 cd Changer with 4 speakers in my 96 explorer. I had a rare problem. When i start the truck, i can hear a little sounds or even no sound ar the right side of the speakers, the left side its ok. But when i turn off the vehicle, at the Acc position, all the sound is Ok at both sides. This is rare, it only presents when i play a cd from the changer, when i switch to radio or tape, all is Ok. And of course, the balance and Fad is at the middle, i have checked and tested. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks....

Well, the problem remain. I reinstalled the cable between the Changer and the Unit, and when i start the engine, the sound at the right side is decreasing and decreasing, and after that there arent sound at the right side. But i turned off the X and works fine. Any help ?

It's 9 years old...

...time for a new radio and/or speakers.

Sounds like you may have a bad voltage regulator or a resistor out of tolerance in the line out section of the changer .... when your truck is running it'll see 13.8 volts but on battery it's only around 12 volts .... obviously the higher voltage is cauing a problem due to something being out of tolerance on one channel ....

Problem is, unless you can troubleshoot component level yourself, it's not considered cost effective to have it fixed even if it is only a 5 cent resistor cauing the problem, the labor cost finding it will kill you

Well, i have an spare cd changer for parts. The related part that i needed is there ? if yes, please tell me how to do that reparation. Thanks

Ah , did you mean "testing eletronic components" , sure that job will kill me. But i have some ideas. Two ways, the hard and the easy

Well, since i had the spare changer can i open and change an entire part an attach to the current changer.....

Or an easy.....

Find the cable configuration of colors, find the Positive and Negative wires, find the correct voltage to feed the changer and amps and install an aftermarket voltage regulator that maintain the voltage at 12V and no more (i am thinking in some of those cheap plug ins for Cd player or portable TV, i dont know if they`ll work) between the battery and the changer and use the outpot connected to my changer. It`s possible ? Theorically it work ? Thanks
