I recently asked for help with idle trouble on my 94 explorer. Thanks for ideas. I have found holes in my air tube between the throttle body and maf. Not sure what to use to stop them up. Haven't found a replacement for it that isn't higher than what the vehicle is worth. Not sure that is the only trouble either. When I unhook the MAF sensor I get no difference in the idle. If I unhook the IAC it dies out. I'm at a loss. This just started out of the blue. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. The previous thread gives codes,mileage and what I have replaced on the vehicle so far. Thanks

I had holes in my plastic intake tube, those accordion pleats were disintegrating on the underside. I bought a roll of 1” silicone tape and wrapped it up. Made a big difference in my idle.

I've used electrical tape as a stopgap before. I replaced the tube, but yes they are expensive. I tried plastic welding once. It didn't go well.

@DonnieFB
I would try smearing RTV Silicone rubber over the cracks, letting it cure 24 hours, see what happens. Cheap enough to try, can't hurt the tube. imp

I have solved my problem at least for now. I reset the ECM by unhooking the negative battery cable and putting the jumper from neg to positive. let it set for 15 minutes then hooked it up and started the vehicle. the idle is normal and so far so good. Thanks for ideas and help.
