Well, the day finally arrived. I got the call yesterday that my Explorer had finally made its way down from the greater Chicago area and was at my dealer. He told me since it came in so late (it was a little after 3 pm), he did not think they could get ti ready for pickup yesterday, but they would do their best.

A few hours later I got the call and was out to pick it up. Overall, a pretty good experience. The monthly price was up a little from what they had quoted do to a credit score thing. I asked them repeatedly to run my credit before quoting me a monthly price, but they assured me the price they gave me was the price it would be per month when I picked it up.

In the end, the dealer added the wear care plan to my lease for free (It is usually $300-$600 depending on how well you negotiate it). So, when it was all said and done, my lease payment was about where I expected it to be.

I have to go back tonight to have the roof rails installed as the service department was closed and they forgot to get them before I got there. No big deal, I drive by the dealer at least once a week on my way home anyway, and I do not "NEED" them.

I was a little concerned at one point when the payments came in as it seemed like they were trying to push me away. I was told this dealer is no longer selling at X-Plan for the explorer and in fact is getting a little above sticker at this point. I got it for below invoice, plus rebates, so I feel like I got a great deal. If I was to walk on the deal, the dealer would have made out. But, my salesperson was very genuine at wanted me to have the car at the price he quoted and it went very smoothly.

Now, if I can just get it away from my wife and play with it. I need to install some after market DVD headrests. Never tried it before, I hope it is pretty painless. I am hoping to tap into the power in the seat, if it is there.

To all of those waiting, I think the vehicle is definitely worth it. I spent the last few weeks out looking at other vehicles (Jeep, CX9, Durango, etc.) for the money, I did not see anything I would rather have had.

I hope I do not regret it, regardless, for the next 39 months, it is mine!

Congrats on it being there!... If you don't mind, I'm leasing as well, which rebates did you use?

I was able to use the $1500 returning RCL lease money, as well as the $750 private cash offer from the brochure.

I could not use the $1000 rebate or $500 rebate currently offered as they do not combine with the lease rates.
