Those are awsome seats Hartman! You've inspired me to do the same. I think I'll be able to get away with black b/c the truck has black and green, so it will just highlight the black
Lots of progress was made today. I got up early to work on the brackets before the feast. After thinking for a while, I fabbed up some brackets that are very simple in nature. I got the seat in the truck and mounted, and everything clears fine. The Infiniti seats are now bolted on the Explorer power seat tracks.
In case you're wondering, I removed the plastic pieces on the bottom of the seats so I could have more room. The plastic should cover everything up nicely. I got the airbag wires and mechanism isolated, so (unforunately) I won't be blowing myself up.
Things didn't go well today. I did get one of the power functions working, the one that pivots the back of the seat forward/backward. I used the Infiniti motor that was on the side of the seat for that. The problem came when I tried to hook up the explorer seat tracks to the infiniti switches. The switch is only supposed to move the seat forward and backward. The Explorer seat track was meant to move up/down, forward/backward, and front up/back up, for a total of 3 functions, 6 wires total. Because of this, I have extra wires because I only need two wires for the forward/backward function. For some reason, it doesn't work. I tried grounding the extra wires, no dice. I sat there for 3 hours and troubleshooted everything and it looked like it would work.
Oh well, I'll try more later on tonight and tomorrow.
As yo may know, i have a '99 Infiniti I30t with almost the same seats, my seats move front, back, up, down, front up, back up, and of course the back goes front and back

Yeah the drivers side is like that, but the passenger side has less functions. I would draw a diagram but there's so much wiring, I don't think anyone would understand it.
I think I might have figured it out. I'm thinking that ALL of the wires that go to the seat track motor need power, regardless if they're being used or not, in order for the motor to function. To test this, I need a distrobution block for the wires, I'll pick that up in the morning and see if it works.
you can't look exactly where the wires attach to the switches? Maybe I havn't taken apart enough seats to understand your problem, but it seems to me that you could just follow the wire directly to the switch. Switches can only be so complex.
I've got the wires sorted out switch wise, it's just a matter of getting the motor to work with the switches. I know I have all the right wires hooked up, I think it's just a matter of what I do with the unused wires. I think ALL of the wires coming from the motor need power in order for the motor to work.
Good luck Hartman! When I did the Benz seats mod, it was one hell of a project but definitely worth it in the end. WIRING IS THE WORST PART of the project!!! But once you sort that out it all pays off.
Just for reference for those who haven't seen, here's my Benz seats installed:
I like Hartman's choice of Infiniti seats more however as they look a hell of a lot more comfortable. Mine were more along the lines of bucket seats which meant a comfortable but sometimes "rough" ride.
Well I just figured it out. Tomorrow after work I will button up everything on the passenger side. On Monday, I will start on the drivers side. Since I know what it takes, it shouldn't take more than a few days to get the drivers side in.
Well I thought I had everything sorted out but I was wrong. This F@#**(% wiring is really pissing me off. I've been trying to get this damn infiniti switch to work right for 4 days. I'm getting sick of it all.
More updates as I destroy more things in the garage...
