I am wondering if the stock pinstriping that comes on the 1st gen Ex's is painted on or if it is a decal. Whatever it is, is there anyway to remove it?

Decal.. At least I have seen a few first gen's on here that have removed there pinstriping.

Just take a hair dryer and warm up the tape. Get a lose edge and just slowly start peeling. Time consuming but relatively easy on my 99. Be careful not to let the paint get to hot or it may blister on you though. Not that it matters on a trail rig.

I guess this can work on dealer decals as well. The little logos they put on your car so they get advertisment for however much you paid for the car. ha - but I will see if I can blow dry the decal and then remove it.

On my 1st gen I just pulled them right on off of there. I had to get them started and you kinda have to pull slowly but those little buggers will come right off without the hairdryer. After I got them off I used some Goo Gone and paper towels to get rid of the residue.

Decals. I've taken them off my 92 (Kind of a mistake as it was a 2 tone paint job and didn't look so hot so I but a diffrent stripe back on) also my 95 and 96 Limited. Took a while but well worth the time.

I think my 2000's is painted on.

mine was a sticker, but i had the same problem as 1996Limited with mine being 2 tone, and not lookign to good, since the line didnt seem to be a straight line and there were all kinds of blemishes it was hiding......

Carwash or pressure washer.

No one has FACTORY paint on pin stripes.

It's a tape strip on my 92... (made by 3M I think.) Mine peeled off fairly easily.. a hairdryer "might" be helpful but really all you have to do is catch an edge and pull it up for something to grip and then carefully pull it off.... As I get my 92 ready for paint, I am even debating replacment.... might leave it off
