Stock Resonator Question

Instead of hollowing out the cat, how about removing the stock res? Am I right, that thing after the cat is a resonator? How do you think it would sound without that? Thanks!
 






Mine is starting to rust and crack, and the guy at the muffer shop said to just do away with it. He stated its not really needed, and the exhust soubd wouldnt be much different. I havent done it yet, but just thought id give you an opinion from a pro muffler guy.
 






You have 2 cats, then the muffler, then maybe a resonator. You're probably looking at the second cat.

Unless your cats are substantially blocked, removing them won't help much. You could replace both with a single aftermarket highflow unit.
