Stock these are decently fast!

NOW THEN Specs on the diesel. crew cab longbed f-250. Has Forged steel internals(forgotten make), bored over to 7.4L's What's that .10 over?, Livewire custom tuned6.0 parts, ARP headstuds, K&N Cold air intake (W/ custom large intake pipe), Cowl induction, 190cc Ryan casserly built injectors,Ryan Casserly does NOT build a 190 for a 7.3, or a "7.4" Industrial Injection VGT-Hypo Turbo,6.0 part... intercooled with HUGE water-air piece, Aftermarket trans cooler, Has 4:10's front and rear, bulletproof 4R100 transmission,7.3 part...100 shot and a 150 shot of nirtus, 7 inch custom driveshaft rear, 4 inch driveshaft front, banks dual 5 inch downpipe-back exhaust kit, propain starting kit, is on a 6 inch full suspension lift, dual shocks front and rear, runs around town on 38x16.5 Superswampers. the drag radials were 35x16 hoosers, front and rear. He can "Chirp" them off the line, not roast. best time with this setup has been a 13.12 at 98 mph(elevation was 120ish ASL, and OAT was a cold 38 degree's. I was unable to procure picks or video as he does not have a digital camera, all of his pictures are on FILM...FILM!! Who does film.. i should be seeing him at the track though in a few weeks and will try and pirate some media on the truck at that time.
Everything about that build sounds like BS. My answers are in red. Someone is lying... Oh well, no big deal...

What YEAR is this truck?

Does it even really exist?

Why do people feel the need to lie?

I KNOW for a fact that if he told you that stuff, he's a liar.

If the truck is running 13's with 190's, then it's a 6.0, so he lied about the 7.4 part, and the 4R100.

If it's running 13's with two stages of nitrous, on a 6.0, something's wrong with his truck.

If he's running 13's with 190cc injectors... On a 7.3 CCLB, he's got a record.

If he put a 4R100 behind a 6.0, he's got more money than brains...

I honestly think someone searched around a little and put together a bogus build sheet.

I've also never heard of a "Custom 7" driveshaft". Seeing as to how there's tons of trucks that are much bigger, and quicker running stock driveshafts...

If he put a VGT-Hypo, it's either a 6.0, or someone is lying...

I'm done arguing about it, I just cannot stand the BS some people make up...

You will make them cry until you hit the twisties.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I just don't see the point in modding an Explorer to be fast, seeing as how they will really only ever be fast in a straight line and even then, seems like a bad platform to start with.

The video you told me to search for I found. Looks great until you read what is done to the thing.......

How much did all that cost? You do realize that both of those cars ran terrible times right? I mean, 13.9 for an Explorer is good, but 13.9 for an Explorer with that much money dumped into it is terrible. And clearly the GTO driver couldn't drive. Seriously, who pilots a LS2 GTO to the tune of a 14.4 second quarter mile? Those things can run high 12s stock with some slicks and decent driver.

265rwhp in a 4000+ lbs vehicle isn't that great. For instance, I will use a car that I know well. Take a 350Z with the HR engine in it (07-08). They generally dyno around 265 to the rear wheels (306 bhp), weigh in around 3300lbs and run mid to low 13s stock. Factor in all the other performance oriented aspects of the vehicle that a SUV doesn't have such as the tranny, LSD, suspension setup........well you get my point.

Again, not trying to be a ball buster or hate on your passion that you have for your vehicle, just trying to be a realist. But I guess that is what makes enthusiasts such a different breed, we all have our own tastes. If I were looking for a SUV to race I would go with a Cherokee SRT8 or maybe find a Cyclone! :)

This, i cannot agree with at all. If everyone just chose to build up "fast" cars, the world would be pretty boring wouldn't it... And we wouldn't have lots of cool stuff we have now.

My truck wasn't designed to run 12's, but I'll be damned if I'll ever stop trying to get it there! Not everyone is a "twisty" guy.

But I do agree that some of these kills are rediculous...

well what ever the case may be sleepers, the guy is a vietnam vet, so if hes lieing id rather just leave the topic dead, i can send you a copy of the email i recieved if you would like.. i kinda feel like an ass now, not making my day. i appologize.

lljim69: Rocket ran a 11 PSI supercharger on a STOCK v8 for almost a year, and a STOCK transmission, when he raced the GTO he was on the stock engine(I believe, he also was running fuel system upgrades like dual 255LPH pumps) he NOW as a built 3v v8 from ford racing. HE has a bullet proof 4 speed of some sort, and i believe he has even done the gear swaps on the rear end. he runs nitrus as well. i believe hes running 11's. I have less than 2 grand into my truck, and i can keep up with a mustang(that statement is ENTIRELY true, i did). wether the driver was compitant or not wasnt at question. it has been proven that we can hit 11's with some $$, why wouldnt we want an 11 second explorer? Nothing says you got owned like getting beat by an 11 second grocery getter/soccer van. WE dont have any ideas about hitting turns in an vehicle that was made famious by roll overs, but i wouldnt mind hitting the drag strips or highway with some camaro's, hemi trucks, SRT's, SS's. when i race i usualy race large vehicles like SUV's trucks, and cross overs (would you believe i got beat by an edge? blew my mind...). I have a lot of pride in ford vehicles, and i wish ford offered a performance package for most vehicles like gm does, an SVT explorer would be Numero Uno on my wish list. its possible to drop a 5.4L into one of these as bigblock as pointed out (By doing so)(i bet fuel economy laws prevented them from doing so...in regaurds to the track pack on the adrenalin as well). a supercharged lightning motor (2.5 grand at my local wreaking yard 65K miles) would be an easy drop in, and it would more than likely be faster than a lightning as well. i have an idea now. there will ALWAYS be somthing faster, as a racing enthusiest i fully admit and acknowledge this, but, there will be MANY more times where a 400 rwhp explorer will come out on top, especialy on the streets. much less a 650 rwhp explorer on the strip!! I can think of few things that compare to how much id love to have an explorer hitting 60 in less than 5.5 seconds.. i have a 2002 black trans am sitting in medical lake washington for christ sake.. and here i am tooling a 4.6L explorer... over a bolt on fed t/a(partialy because it scares the **** out of me lol). we both come off a bit hostile in our posts, i also enjoy a good debate.

That's OK. I'm a vet too. So I can call BS on vets and you nor I have to feel bad about it.
:salute:

See, you're kinda like the guy in the background... (bad day:D)

illjim69- You're right that these rides aren't very fast and all things equal(traction) then a Mustang GT(99-04) should beat us without question. But anything can happen on the street because traction isn't always the greatest for those who need it;)

Okay, but we don't want any of those, at least I don't. I love my X, so why is it so unimaginable that I'd want to add to it?

That is fine, which is what I said a few times already. I was just saying that a lot of these "kills" were either embellished or just a case of "the other guy couldn't drive" or "the other guy wasn't racing".

I don't really do the street racing thing, but if I were to beat a car that I knew was faster than mine, I would probably add that little caveat in there that the driver didn't know what was going on. But that is just me. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

No doubt about that last part. Then again, street racing is pretty stupid. I know everyone will say "but the streets were empty", doesn't matter. How many folks die trying to puff out their chests on the streets. Don't get me wrong, I know how tempting it can be when some moron rolls up next to you at a red light and revs his engine, but it is better to be the bigger man. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if I were to wreck into someone else. That is why we have race tracks. ;)

But I am no angel. When I was younger, I certainly did the whole red light drag races or roll races on open highways. But as you get older, you realize how silly it is.

zero - why can't we call BS on a vet? I am a vet (x3 so far), so can I call BS? :p:

by all means call BS, im not very knowledgabe when it comes to diesel, i wish i had caught it before i posted it up here lol. I just would rather not call him out if i dont have too you see, I have a lot of respect for our vetrans, so if he wants to throw out some white lies, so be it.

NOW THEN, Limited02, that update was from 06 i believe, i joined in 08 and he was telling me in one of my early performance posts that he was aiming for beyond 600 horses, on phase 3... i could very well be wrong though, was over 2 years ago.

That setup was for the 600hp goal;) I pm'd him to see how things are and the one thing I know he is doing/will be doing, is a TT setup on his 6.0 G8:D

that kinda makes me mad...grrr... damn you ford... the next explorers need to have the new 32 valve dohc 5.0 and the eco boost engines...WHOS WITH ME!?!?!... i am also rather suprised because stock for stock the explorers are WAY faster than the TB's...i see on the dyno run that your engine may make more power, but it has LESS available throughout the rpm range, making peek hp at about 5500 rpm... about the same time MY truck is shifting...this is why numbers arnt everything i guess.

what you dont realize is that these thing put down some pretty impressive torque numbers. my stock 05 v6 makes about 265 ft/lds (using high qual lubes and k&n OE filter) at about 3500 rpm and the v8 puts down around 280ft/lbs at 4000 rpm. so with basic mods youe can get close to 300 ft lbs with the v6 and around 350 ft lbs with the v8:salute:

i noted that in another post lol. the torque available from these 4.6L's is quite impressive.
