stock wheels and tires ( help, need advise)

i have a 1993 explorer sport 2wd . i have stock rims and tires . my prob is i have the4.0 v-6 with a 3.27 rear end and 5 speed tranny and use my explorer to pull my camper . i was going to put 30x950 tires ,but this would lug me down to bad .
question : on stock 15x7" rims what is the widest 60 series tire that this rim will handle . also would putting these wide tires put a strain on my front end joints.

dont go any bigger or smaller than something that is 3 inches plus or minus the rim width

I really would suggest trying to re gear your rig. At the very least I would say you need 3.73, I would go 4.10, to do any towing. First, our X's are known for eating up transmissions and spitting them out. With a 3.23 ratio, you are really going to be straining your entire power train. Since you have a 2wd, you could pick up a used set of gears cheap, probably $100. Then have a shop install.
