just thought id share something i thought was funny.. well i thought it was funny a couple mins after the initial shock.
i had a motor put in my sport last fall, and when i got it back home i noticed i kept losing gear oil out of my rear end, i replaced the gasket, filled it back up, checked the rear wheel seals, it was so bad that i thought my axle tube had gotten twisted come apart from the diff housing. well i took it to a friends shop where we put it on a lift, he reaches up and goes "i know what the problem is, your abs sensor is missing" missing meaning that someone had crawled under neath my explorer, unscrewed the sensor, gently pried apart the connector, and walked off with a $15 sensor and the bolt that holds it in.
ok, so i let that slide.. thinking someone must have 'borrowed' it while it was sitting at my house with the blown motor. luckily i did not run the diff dry, everything is fine, no ticks clicks or bearing noise. so i put a new sensor in, reset the comp., turned the truck on.. the abs light is on. that friend i have wanted $30 to hook up to the abs system so i said so long to safe stopping in the rain and hello to wheel slides.
i was adjusting my headlights down farther to compensate for my lift and something told me to open up the relay box under the hood. i lift open the cover and see an empty relay location. you know how when you move something off of a dusty shelf or wall you leave a clean imprint of the object? thats what i saw. and guess what, the empty spot was for the abs pump relay. i walked in the house, grabbed one of the 50 relays ive swiped from yards and popped it in, i now have abs, again.
just thought id share that, it amused me after i made a list in my head of people to ki... well.. not like anymore.
